Tristan Howes’ golf journey began at the age of six, learning the game alongside his father, Chris Howes. From there, his talent blossomed as he joined the Evergreen Golf Center Junior Program, training under coaches Cara Vanderham and Marcus Menegehetti. With a strong foundation in place, Tristan began full-time training with Coach Marcus, setting the stage for his competitive golf career.

At just 10 years old, Tristan started competing in the McLennan Ross Junior Golf Tour and the Maple Leaf Mini Golf Tour. By 12, he joined the Matson Junior Golf Academy, working year-round with Trent and Spence Matson to take his game to the next level. Now at 15, Tristan competes regularly on both the Alberta Golf Junior tour and the Maple Leaf Junior tour in the Juvenile Division, participating in over 15 tournaments in 2024 alone.
This past year was a standout for Tristan, with several key achievements. He posted a career-low score of 73 during the MJT Golf Saskatchewan Spring Classic at Elmwood G&CC, finishing 12th on the leaderboard. He also earned his first Zone Championship qualification, representing his high school (Catholic Central High) at the Provincial Championships in Grande Prairie, where he delivered two consistent rounds of 79. Tristan’s biggest highlight of 2024, however, was taking 1st place at the Alberta Golf Tour Stop at Henderson Lake, a well-deserved victory that showcased his hard work and determination.

Tristan’s passion for the game is matched by his ambition off the course. He aspires to study science after high school and hopes to secure a golf scholarship to support his academic and athletic goals.
On behalf of the Matson Junior Golf Academy, we are incredibly proud of Tristan’s achievements and commitment to the sport. His success is a testament to his dedication, and we look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next. Keep up the great work, Tristan—your future is bright!
